May 23, 2008
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today that he will travel to France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom from May 27-29.

"I am pleased to be able to meet with leaders of these countries with whom we share the values of freedom, democracy, human rights and rules of law, as well as a commitment to greater global security, a stronger world economy and protecting the environment," said Prime Minister Harper. "I look forward to an exchange of views on many issues of mutual interest, including how we advance international climate change efforts at our G8 Summit in Tokayo, Japan, in July."

The Prime Minister will meet with President Sarkozy in Paris, Chancellor Merkel in Bonn, Prime Minister Berlusconi in Rome, and Prime Minister Brown in London. He will also speak at the Ninth Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in Bonn, Germany, and will deliver a speech on climate change to the Canada-U.K. Chamber of Commerce in London.
