PM announces changes to parliamentary secretaries

January 30, 2011
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the appointment of two new parliamentary secretaries to assist ministers with their parliamentary duties.

Lois Brown, Member of Parliament for Newmarket-Aurora (Ontario), becomes Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation.

Cathy McLeod, Member of Parliament for Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo (British Columbia), becomes Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue.

Prime Minister Harper also announced that three parliamentary secretaries have received new assignments.

Shelly Glover, Member of Parliament for Saint Boniface (Manitoba), becomes Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance.

Jacques Gourde, Member of Parliament for Lotbinière-Chutes-de-la-Chaudière (Quebec), becomes Parliamentary Secretary for Official Languages, in addition to his responsibilities as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Works and Government Services.

Greg Rickford, Member of Parliament for Kenora (Ontario), becomes Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.

"The economy continues to be our top priority. As our infrastructure stimulus measures in the Economic Action Plan begin to wind down, our Government is focusing on the next phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan, a continuation of our low-tax plan to protect and create jobs and economic growth," concluded Prime Minister Harper.
