PM tables the Eighteenth Annual Report to the Prime Minister on the Public Service of Canada

Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today tabled in Parliament the Eighteenth Annual Report to the Prime Minister on the Public Service of Canada from the Clerk of the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Public Service, Wayne G. Wouters.

"We are committed to maintaining a high-performing Public Service that meets the needs of Canadians and promotes their interests at home and abroad," said Prime Minister Harper. "This report shows solid progress towards ensuring our Government improves its performance, and has the people, programs and resources to address current and future needs."

The Clerk's report highlights the accomplishments of the Public Service over the past year including its implementation of our Government's Economic Action Plan, support for greater security and development in Afghanistan and support for the successful G-8 and G-20 summits.

The report reasserts the Clerk's commitment to public service renewal and outlines a number of key priorities for 2011 including engaging employees in the excellence agenda, and renewing the workplace and workforce.
