Prime Minister announces changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service

Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:
Michelle Chartrand, currently President of the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada, becomes Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office.
Nicole Jauvin, currently Associate Clerk of the Privy Council for Senior Personnel, becomes President of the Public Service Human Resources Management Agency of Canada.
Maryantonett Flumian, currently Deputy Head of Service Canada and Associate Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, becomes Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office.
Hélène Gosselin, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Health, becomes Deputy Head of Service Canada and Associate Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development.
Kathy OHara, currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Machinery of Government), Privy Council Office, becomes Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development.
André Juneau, currently Deputy Head of Infrastructure and Communities, becomes Senior Advisor to the Privy Council Office.
Louis Ranger, currently Deputy Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, takes on the additional responsibility of Deputy Head of Infrastructure and Communities.
Paul Leblanc, currently Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Socio-Economic Policy and Regional Operations, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, becomes Executive Vice-President of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
John Knubley, currently Vice-President, Nova Scotia, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Natural Resources.
Daphne Meredith, currently Assistant Secretary, Corporate Priorities and Planning Sector, Treasury Board Secretariat, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Public Works and Government Services.
Susan Cartwright, currently Assistant Secretary, Treasury Board Secretariat, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Health.
Ian Shugart, currently Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Health Policy Branch, Health Canada, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of the Environment.
George Da Pont, currently Acting Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard, becomes Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard.
These appointments are effective September 5, 2006, with the exception of the appointment of Kathy OHara, which will be effective October 2, 2006.
