Prime Minister Stephen Harper to meet with President Hamid Karzai

Ottawa, Ontario

Friday, September 22nd:

8:30 a.m. – Prime Minister Stephen Harper welcomes Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai at the front steps of Parliament.

8:32 a.m. – Welcoming Ceremony begins.

8:45 a.m. – Prime Minister Stephen Harper introduces President Hamid Karzai to the welcoming party in the Rotunda, House of Commons. President Hamid Karzai will then sign the Distinguished Visitors’ Books of the Senate and House of Commons.

8:49 a.m. – Prime Minister Stephen Harper and President Hamid Karzai will be escorted by the Usher of the Black Rod and Sergeant-at-Arms to the office of the Speaker of the House of Commons.

* Note: this portion of the ceremony will remain private.

9:00 a.m. – Prime Minister Stephen Harper and President Hamid Karzai will proceed to their seats in the House of Commons.

9:03 a.m. – Prime Minister addresses the House of Commons.

9:20 a.m. – President Hamid Karzai addresses the House of Commons.

10:15 a.m. – Prime Minster Harper and President Karzai will hold a brief joint media availability in the Railway Room, 253 Centre Block.
