STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER ON THE DEATH OF CORPORAL NATHAN HORNBURG

Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued the following statement today on the death of a Canadian soldier and the wounding of four others:

"It is with deep sorrow that I have learned that we have lost a brave Canadian soldier in Afghanistan. On behalf of all Canadians, my sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Corporal Nathan Hornburg.

My sympathies also go out to the four Canadian soldiers injured in this attack, and to their friends and families. We pray for their swift recovery.

Canadians mourn the loss of Corporal Nathan Hornburg. Demonstrating courage and commitment, he gave his life serving his country and working to ensure a brighter future for the Afghan people.

We honour his memory and will remain forever grateful for his sacrifice."
