OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT AWARD OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF CANADA 2007

March 5, 2008
Ottawa, Ontario

Today, Prime Minister Stephen Harper presented the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Public Service of Canada to five senior public servants for sustained and exceptional performance of their duties.
Recipients of the coveted award this year are:
  • Philip H. Amundson, Canada Food Inspection Agency
  • Dr. Christina Cameron, Parks Canada Agency
  • Denis Comeau, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada
  • Michael Horgan, Environment Canada
  • Dr. Calvin Wayne Lindwall, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

"I am pleased to have the opportunity today to recognize some of the most talented members of the Public Service of Canada," said Prime Minister Harper. "This year's recipients of the Outstanding Achievement Awards are being recognized for their extraordinary talent, effort and leadership."

The Prime Minister added that the Awards are especially relevant this year because the Government, working with the Clerk of the Privy Council, has initiated a program of Public Service Renewal, to build on the tremendous strengths of the Public Service of Canada. "To do this, we must continue to attract skilled individuals to the Public Service of Canada and recognize those who demonstrate exceptional talent and effort," Prime Minister Harper said. "This year's recipients have earned this recognition."

The Government of Canada introduced the Outstanding Achievement Award, the highest honour in the Public Service of Canada, in 1966. A Committee of distinguished Canadians appointed by the Prime Minister selects the recipients. The Outstanding Achievement Award is administered by the Canada Public Service Agency.
