PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN THE SENIOR RANKS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE

May 1, 2008
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:

Rod Monette, currently Interim Comptroller General of Canada, becomes Comptroller General of Canada.

Peter Harrison, currently Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Executive Director and Deputy Head of the Office of Indian Residential Schools Resolution of Canada, becomes the Skelton-Clark Fellow to the Queen's University School of Policy Studies.

These appointments are effective immediately.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank Lucie McClung and Verna Bruce, who are retiring from the Public Service, for their dedication and excellence in serving Canadians over the years, and to wish each of them all the best in their future endeavours.
