Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced he will meet with Prime Minister Sükhbaatar Batbold in Ottawa on September 28 during the Mongolian Prime Minister's first visit to Canada. Prime Minister Batbold will be visiting Canada for the first time as Mongolia's Prime Minister.
"Canada and Mongolia will continue to build on our growing relationship, expanding trade and deepening our shared commitment of upholding democratic values and institutions," Prime Minister Harper said.
Prime Minister Harper and Prime Minister Batbold will discuss a range of issues on shared bilateral interests, such as trade, defence and international cooperation.
Canada has been a firm supporter of the democratic changes which have occurred in Mongolia in recent years. Canada is now the second largest source of foreign investment in the Mongolian economy.
Prime Minister Batbold is the first Mongolian leader to visit Canada since the 2004 visit of former President Natsagiyn Bagabandi. The Mongolian Prime Minister will also travel Toronto and Vancouver during his trip, which takes place September 27 to October 1.
