Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on the impact of flooding in Nova Scotia

November 10, 2010
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the impact of severe flooding in Nova Scotia:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Nova Scotia as they deal with the aftermath of four days of severe flooding, which has damaged bridges, roads and homes in several communities in the southwest part of the province.

"We are in close contact with provincial authorities and are monitoring the situation closely. The Government of Canada stands ready to provide assistance once the province has completed an assessment of its needs.

"The people of Nova Scotia have experienced harsh weather before and I am confident their determination and courage will be evident as they rebuild their homes and communities."
