Statement by Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Israeli Election
March 29, 2006
Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minster Stephen Harper made the following statement after a phone call with Ehud Olmert:
I spoke earlier today with Ehud Olmert to offer my congratulations on the victory of his Kadima party in yesterdays elections in Israel. I told Mr. Olmert that Israel would continue to benefit from the strong leadership he has demonstrated over the past few months.
Canada and Israel enjoy solid bilateral relations and Mr. Olmert and I agreed to work together at expanding them even more.
Canada remains a staunch supporter of peace in the Middle East and we will continue to work with Mr. Olmert and President Mahmoud Abbas to reach that goal.
