PRIME MINISTER ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN THE SENIOR RANKS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE

Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:

Susan Cartwright, currently Foreign and Defence Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister and Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, effective June 16, 2008.

Claude Carrière, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, becomes Foreign and Defence Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister and Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet, Privy Council Office, effective June 16, 2008.

Serge Dupont, currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Financial Sector Policy Branch, Finance Canada, becomes Associate Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, effective June 16, 2008.

Don Head, currently Senior Deputy Commissioner, Correctional Service of Canada, becomes Commissioner of Corrections, Correctional Service of Canada, effective June 27, 2008.

The Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank Monique Boudrias, Kathy O'Hara and Keith Coulter, who are retiring from the Public Service, for their dedication and excellence in serving Canadians over the years, and to wish each of them all the best in their future endeavours.
