Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on the election of Marie-Lucie Morin to the World Bank

October 8, 2010
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement following confirmation that his National Security Advisor, Marie-Lucie Morin, has accepted to serve as Executive Director of the World Bank representing Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean:

"I would like to congratulate Ms. Morin on being elected to this prestigious international position. The World Bank will benefit greatly from her extensive international experience and remarkable work ethic."

"I would also like to thank Ms. Morin personally for the invaluable advice that she has provided over the last two years to myself and to the Government of Canada as National Security Advisor and Associate Secretary to the Cabinet. Her efforts have contributed significantly to the safety and well-being of Canadians and to the effective functioning of the federal government."
