Statement by the Prime Minister Stephen Harper on the passing of Master Corporal Raymond Arndt

August 5, 2006
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the passing of Master Corporal Raymond Arndt.

"On behalf of Canadians, I extend my sincere condolences to the loved ones of Master Corporal Raymond Arndt. My thoughts and prayers are also with the three other Canadian Forces personnel who were injured.

“Canadians are united in pride and gratitude behind this young man who represented our nation, and our values, with courage and honour. He is mourned by his countrymen on this sad day.

“I offer my heartfelt sympathies to Master Corporal Arndt's family and friends, and to them I extend Canada's profound gratitude. Canada stands in honour of his sacrifice."
