PM participates in swearing-in of parliamentary secretaries

June 1, 2011
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today participated in the swearing-in ceremony of 28 parliamentary secretaries who will assist ministers with their parliamentary duties.

"These new and returning parliamentary secretaries will be pivotal in helping our Government deliver on its commitments to Canadians," Prime Minister Harper said. "Acting as key links between ministers and parliamentarians, they will help to ensure strong and productive relations among all members of Parliament."

As part of their responsibilities, parliamentary secretaries work closely with their ministers as well as all members of Parliament in the House of Commons.

"With a strong team of men and women from across the country, our strong, stable, national Government will continue to take action for all Canadians. Our low-tax plan focuses on what matters most to Canadians – jobs and economic growth – as it will keep Canada moving towards greater prosperity," Prime Minister Harper added.
