PRIME MINISTER STEPHEN HARPER TO PARTICIPATE IN NEW ORLEANS SUMMIT

April 17, 2008
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced that he will participate in the upcoming North American Leaders' Summit in New Orleans from April 21 to 22, 2008, where he will meet with U.S. President George W. Bush and Mexican President Felipe Calderón.

"Strong and productive relationships with our neighbours, the United States and Mexico, are essential to the continued and future success of Canada's economy and to the well-being of all Canadians," said the Prime Minister. "I look forward to meeting with President Bush and President Calderón to build on last year's successful Montebello Summit."

Minister of Public Safety Stockwell Day and Minister of Industry Jim Prentice will accompany the Prime Minister and meet with their counterparts.
